Stuff Yourself With A Bowl of Steamed Greens After You Stuff Your Bowl & Smoke Some Greens
After about 5 minutes of wordplay with that subtitle, I think I’ve confused myself – So I hope the pun’s there and it makes sense, but I can’t guarentee anything! As a meatless dish, today’s munchie will definitely appeal to the vegetarian/vegan cohort out there, but my fellow carnivores should not be deterred – many a meat eater has gone vegetarian after they’ve tried what I’m about to describe - so get ready for some veggy love.
Why We Like This:
Anytime you’re putting vegetables in your body, you’re doing a good thing – if you can accomplish this without adding butter/oil and make it still taste delicious – forget about it! Well, that’s exactly what the Steaming Bowl of Greens brings to the table – essentially no calories, a whole lot of filling fiber, and a ton of vitamins/antioxidants – from a health perspectives, it’s tough to find something better. The fact that it’s also delicious is just icing on the cake (probably not the best metaphor to use, but go with me on this).
The ingredients you can use aren’t limited to what I list below – these are just my favorites. You can use any vegetables you’d like.
- Sliced Zucchini
- Brussel Sprouts
Use a double potted steamer if you have one – if not, just use a large, deep pot. Fill up your pot with about a quarter of the way with water – put it under a high flame until it boils.
If you’re using a double steamer, fill the top portion with your vegetables and steam as you would normally. If you’re using a large pot, add your vegetables once you’re water has come to a full boil and cover.
Put your flame to a low medium – and wait. Then wait some more. And then even more. In fact, the idea here is to wait until the vegetables have become so steamed that they become as soft and mushy as mashed potatoes – this typically takes about 30 minutes under a medium flame. Carefully move your vegetables into a large cereal/soup bowl – add a little bit of garlic powder and salt (you can be experimental here with some of your favorite spices). Then enjoy!
Steam A Bowl Of Green,
Take some thinly sliced Zucchini and microwave it on a microwave safe plate for about 1 minutes – or until dehydrated – these will taste like delicious Zucchini chips. While it may not sounds great – trust us – it works!
